The first day of the tour begins with the arrival in the city of Xanthi and its Old Town. Built on the north side of town, at the foot of the Rhodope massif. It consists of classical samples west-Macedonian and Epirus architecture, but is also widely influenced by the Central European architecture, with rich indoor and outdoor decoration and clear Baroque influences. The Residences of old tobacco merchants in the city of Xanthi, the renovated buildings of the Old Town, witness the time when the tobacco trade flourished in the town, when Xanthi was hosted four consulates. Xanthi is also renowned for its oriental color and its great bazaar which takes place every Saturday near the city center, is the largest flea market in Northern Greece, full of colors, sounds and life.
