This is the highest peak in the Gyumyurdjinsky Snejnik range. It is 1463 m high. Geographically, it is the southernmost point in Bulgaria. The protected area "Veikata" is a mountainous region covered with mesophytic forests that provide natural habitat for endangered species. There are beech and mixed forests which are from 100 to 350 years old .It is the home to 11 plant species and five animal species from the Bulgarian Red Data List.Especially valuable are the forests of mountain sycamores with undergrowth of evergreen yew and holly. Of special interest is the Rhodope cream /a Balkan endemic /. The view from the top is spectacular. Much of neighboring Greece is revealed in clear weather from atop as well as the Aegean Sea, Portolagos and others. The view, which alternates with pristine beech and mixed forests, is spectacular
