This mountainous town is the center of Muslim Pomaks where mosques, houses, huts, workshops, warehouses and shops are reserved as remnants of an authentic old traditional environment. Special characteristic is there houses with lattice porch, which as a closed or semi-private space, subsumes the family and is used for drying tobacco. The spread of new materials facilitated the lives of the residents, but the filled the quaint town with awkward slabs and broke the harmonious picture of the roofs that fascinated every visitor. The financial resources of the residents derived from the cultivation of tobacco, a variety of excellent “basma”, which is considered to be among the best tobaccos in the world.
