Thracian Folk Festival – Carnival of Xanthi

Every year at the carnival period you will find the city of Xanthi to celebrate in a frenetic rhythms the Carnival. In 1991 the Thracian Folk Festivals was founded and since then it has been introducing, preserving and propagating through events and celebrations the spirit of tradition in young people with consistent, serious and without compulsion. The Thracian Folk Festival withdraw images of history and culture culminating in the last Sunday of Carnival, when it takes place an unprecedented parade of great aesthetics, with colorful chariots and masqueraders. Children and adults are lured into the colors, the sounds and the smells of an incredible dance of satire. The festival ends with the custom of burning the effigies of Tzara. The Thracian Folk Festival is organized by the Municipality of Xanthi and the Municipality Cultural Center of Xanthi.
