Bacilica of Saint George

Rating:
(1)

Morphological details of the basilica, architectural and other, allow us to put the construction of the church in the mid 10th century. It seems to operate as an episcopal church, honored, according to local tradition, on the name of Saint George, at least until the late Byzantine years. After the destruction of the mid-12th century, it seems to get founded on the southeastern edge of the community of Makri and get used as a cemetery.
