The fortress was built on the very top of Turlata peak at 1825 meters. It was built at the beginning of the tenth century
It was difficult to capture because although it was paced on the top, had water suply. The castle has fallen due to a donkey that Otomans feeded with salt for days and at one point the animal went crazy and began dig in the land in search for water land ant this way the clay pipes which supplied the castele with water were found. Without its source of water the fortress was conqured. To top it goes stepped terraces that form the ancient road to the gates. Southern slopes are rocky, covered with abundant grass and the north are densely covered with fir forests.
